Dear Hillsdale Family,
Over the past several years, as I have shared my faith and served Christ with you, I have witnessed a wonderful truth in the life of Hillsdale United Methodist Church. What I have witnessed is that God's timing is absolutely perfect! I realize that His timing has always been perfect and always will be.
When I first arrived in Hillsdale as your pastor, we owned acreage on beautiful rolling farm
land with a magnificent pond and great open pastures located at the peak of the highest point in the community. But God had led our leadership to become unsettled with the prospect of building our first facility on this property. The land was far removed from the main highway and our leaders were concerned about becoming detached from the community. The more we prayed, the more God seemed to hold off our attempts to make something happen with that property.
It was if God were saying, "Just wait, my plans are bigger than your plans." We did wait. And then, at the perfect time, God brought about the means for us to purchase the 16 and a half acre property where our church now sits, with beautiful road frontage right in the heart of Hillsdale! This sight was also the very first property considered by our leadership and now, in God's time,
it was ours!
We began construction of our present worship space in the fall of 2005 and in May of 2006, we packed our belongings from the rented warehouse to our new home just one fourth of a mile down the road. This was our first journey to build our church facility and we called this adventure "Our Journey, His Path." Basing our journey on Proverbs 3: 5 - 6 to "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths." (NRSV)
Now, we are on another journey. This is our second building adventure and we are asking God to guide our path as "The Journey Continues..." We have built a 5,283 square foot classroom addition for our children and youth ministries. With this next adventure, we are preparing the next generations of faith and witness at Hillsdale Church. This building provides space for us to build a new foundation of faith and practice with our young people as our journey continues.
 It is my prayer and the prayer of the staff and leadership that we at Hillsdale Church will recognize and respond now to God's perfect timing in our lives. God gave us this wonderful land and facility to be a part of building His kingdom. I want to personally invite you to join with us in our building campaign to pay down the debt of our first facility and new education facility. You can join us in this effort by contacting the church office today and filling out a Commitment Card to this building process.
Together, the workload can be lightened, the tasks made manageable and the accomplishments great. As a church family, we are on this journey together. When we make a commitment to work together and when we extend ourselves to be all that we can be for the Lord, we will accomplish all that we are called to do...in His perfect time!
